J Residence

The Bahamas

About

The J Residence in the Bahamas is a full-house residential commission with a programme that reflects the full complexity of family life in a luxury Caribbean property: a piano lounge, a children's study room and bedroom, a home office, multiple outdoor patios, and living spaces that range from an ocean-themed family room to a formal dining room.

The piano lounge is the project's social centrepiece — a room designed to function as a music room, an evening entertaining space, and a daytime retreat in equal measure. The view through to the bar provides a designed sightline that animates both spaces and makes the relationship between them feel intentional rather than accidental.

The ocean-themed living room is the project's most expressive space — a room that takes the Bahamian setting as its explicit inspiration and translates it into an interior: deep blue accent tones, natural woven textures, bleached timber surfaces, and accessories that reference the water and reef environment outside the windows.

The children's spaces — a dedicated study room and a kid's bedroom — are designed with the same seriousness as the adult rooms: considered furniture choices, appropriate scale, and an aesthetic that respects the children's experience of the house rather than treating their spaces as an afterthought.

The entertainment console in the living room is custom-designed — a piece that integrates technology requirements (screen, speakers, streaming equipment) into the room's material language without the usual visual compromise that AV storage demands.

Two outdoor patios at different orientations give the household access to the outdoors at different times of day and for different social occasions — one more intimate, one configured for larger gatherings, both designed with the same material care as the interiors.
