Villa Besso

Villa Besso in Kerobokan is a study in indoor-outdoor living done right — the design challenge that defines high-end Balinese residential projects and separates the exceptional from the merely competent.

The villa is organised around its pool, with every key living space oriented toward the water. The lower patio and upstairs patio are treated as extensions of the interior rather than afterthoughts — fully furnished, materiality-consistent, and designed for the way people actually live in tropical Bali: as much outside as in.

Hanging rattan pendant lamps — handcrafted in natural rattan by Balinese artisans — are the signature detail that runs through the project. They appear over the kitchen bar, in the living room, and on both terrace levels, providing a material thread that unifies the villa across its different elevations and zones.

The poolside furniture is specified in teak — chosen for its natural resistance to Bali's wet season — and follows the same restrained, clean-line aesthetic as the interiors. The result is a pool area that photographs as a resort space but functions as a private home.

The kitchen and bar area is designed for the Bali entertaining lifestyle: generous in scale, open to the living room, and equipped with bar seating that invites guests into the cooking space rather than keeping them at a distance. The hall to the bathroom introduces a moment of transition and craft detail — a design beat between the social spaces and the more private areas of the villa.
